Midwestern State University welcomed another strong class this year, enrolling 966 first-time students. This marks the third consecutive year of historically large incoming first-year classes.

In addition to the first-time cohort, the university made significant strides in transfer and graduate student populations to reach a total enrollment of 5,519. This marks a 4.4% increase over last year.

“We are encouraged about the trajectory of our recruiting efforts and the growth in the number of students attending Midwestern State University for the first time,” MSU Texas President Stacia Haynie said. “We continue to place priority on student access and success.”

For the second consecutive year, students living in campus housing surpassed 1,500, and students participating in meal plans topped 1,200.

As the university continues to build on its recruitment and retention efforts, it is reviewing and revising its campus master plan to plan for sustainable growth and student success. Earlier this month, a draft presentation was made to the campus community to gather feedback on the proposed vision, key priorities, and recommendations. Of note were the expansion of the Gunn College of Health Sciences & Human Services and the addition of a new 350-bed residence hall.

Both priorities address the demand of students seeking health-related degrees, specifically in nursing and radiology, and for on-campus living.

“The conversations around master planning are critical to our ability to recruit and retain students to our campus. By planning for this future growth, we can then align our space, staffing, technology, and infrastructure to support it,” Haynie said.

The master plan is in the last refinement phase with the final document expected in January 2027.
