PE Limited donates industry-leading MOVE software to MSU Texas

Midwestern State University has entered into an agreement with PE Limited that will significantly enhance teaching, research, and student learning opportunities in the geosciences and energy-related fields through the donation of 10 licenses of the company's industry-leading MOVE software suite.

The software donation, valued at $2,764,444.11, provides students and faculty with access to one of the most widely used geological modeling platforms in the world. MOVE integrates an extensive range of geological and geophysical data, enabling users to visualize, analyze, and model complex geological processes and subsurface structures.

The addition of MOVE strengthens the university's investment in providing students with access to cutting-edge technology and scientific tools used throughout the energy, environmental, and geosciences industries.

"This extraordinary gift provides our students and faculty with access to the same advanced software used by professionals and researchers around the globe," said Robert Brennan, dean of the McCoy College of Science, Mathematics & Engineering. "Experience with industry-standard technology are essential to preparing graduates for successful careers, and this donation further elevates the opportunities available through our geoscience programs."

The software will be particularly beneficial to the teaching and

research efforts of Associate Professor Luel Emishaw and the students he mentors. Access to MOVE will allow faculty and students to conduct advanced geological modeling and interpretation, expanding research capabilities while providing valuable hands-on experience with professional-grade software.

"This donation advances the resources available to our students," said Jonathan D. Price, chair of the Kimbell School of Geosciences. "MOVE integrates with our existing collection of specialized software and equipment, and provides powerful insights about fractures and faults. Exposure to high-level modeling tools ensures that our graduates continue to be exceptionally prepared for careers in a rapidly evolving industry."

MSU Texas joins a distinguished group of institutions that provide students access to PE Limited's software, including Missouri University of Science and Technology, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Tarleton State University, and Stephen F. Austin State University. PE Limited has also supported higher education through software donations to institutions such as Texas Tech University.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing geoscience education and developing the next generation of scientists, researchers, and industry professionals.
