Ingraham prepared to meet the world after MSU Texas graduation

Madison Ingraham was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas. When she came to Midwestern State University, it was not only hard to leave home but also hard to leave the most influential people in her life – her family.

Although Ingraham chose MSU Texas because of the outstanding reputation of the radiology program, there was another reason – the size. “It was important for me to be comfortable. MSU Texas felt like my home away from home,” she said. “I always missed home, but throughout my time at MSU, I’ve gained many lifelong friends who became my family away from home.”

Ingraham graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology.

At MSU Texas, she was involved in organizations such as the University Programming Board, Redwine Honors Program, and the Rotaract Club of MSU. “I also served as a Resident Assistant. All of these involvements helped me to become more active on campus and meet new people. I participated in Move-In weekend, Homecoming, Maverick’s Day of Service, Sikes Lake cleanup, and so much more.”

Her favorite was the Homecoming Bonfire. “I have never seen anything like it. I think it is truly a memorable experience and activity,” Ingraham said.

Ingraham said that Assistant Professors of Radiologic Sciences Rodney Fisher and Mandy Sedden helped her throughout her entire time in the program. “They were there from the start ensuring we were ready for finals and on to preparing us for our registry exams,” she said. “Dr. Fisher is so knowledgeable, he will guide you in understanding various subject matter, and I love Mandy! She is so caring and willing to help you succeed.”

Although she still misses her family in the Bahamas, Ingraham has accepted an offer to work as a diagnostic radiologic technologist at a hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She is also an as-needed RT in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She also plans on pursuing a master’s degree in physician assistant studies specializing in interventional radiology.

“I feel more than prepared to be ‘out in the world’ now,” Ingraham said. “I feel confident that I have been equipped with the necessary things and experiences to navigate my journey in the world going forward.”
