MSU Texas programs rank high for affordability, quality
Academic programs at Midwestern State University continue to rank high on online nationwide “best of” degree lists.
College Consensus placed MSU Texas’ Master’s of Business Administration seventh for Best Online Accounting MBA in its 2020 online MBA rankings. More than 570 online and hybrid MBA programs were researched then ranked based on their affordability, reputation, and convenience.
The site socialworkdegree.org ranked universities based on a combination of manually researched tuition, Council on Social Work Education accreditation, and PayScale salary data. MSU’s Bachelor in Social Work ranked ninth on the site’s 2019 list of Best Bachelor’s in Social Work Degrees in Texas. MSU Texas placed 20th on the 2019 list of Most Affordable Bachelor's Social Work Degrees.
AffordableSchools.net ranked MSU Texas’ mechanical engineering at 10th in the 15 Best Affordable Mechanical Engineering Degree Programs 2019. Using National Center for Education Statistics and its College Navigator database, schools with four-year bachelor’s programs were narrowed to those with the lowest tuition, then narrowed further to those recognized by accreditation agencies such as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The low students-faculty ratio of 18:1 also was considered.
MSU Texas programs ranked in four of Intelligent.com’s lists. The Master’s in Sports Management degree ranked fourth in the Best Online Master’s in Sports Management list, with the added honor of Best in the South. The site included only regionally accredited programs. MSU Texas is also accredited by the Commission on Sports Management Accreditation. Intelligent.com analyzed 137 schools, on a scale of 0 to 100, with only 49 making it to the final list.
Intelligent.com’s list of the Best Online Master’s in Healthcare Administration ranked MSU Texas at fifth. The list was based on an assessment of 171 accredited colleges and universities in the nation. Each program was evaluated based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation, and post-graduate employment. The program received special recognition for Good Value. The program also ranked seventh in Intelligent.com’s list of the Best Online Master’s in Health Services, with recognition for Most Affordable. Out of 140 regionally accredited universities assessed, 20 were ranked.
MSU Texas’ Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care placed 16th on Intelligent.com’s list of the Top 27 Respiratory Therapy Degree Programs. The research guide was based on an assessment of 67 accredited colleges and universities in the nation. Each program is evaluated based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation, and post-graduate employment.
TextbookRush rated MSU Texas 15th for Best Value Colleges in Texas for 2020. The ranking was determined using data from College Scorecard that averaged cost of attendance, earnings six years post-enrollment, and earnings 10 years post-enrollment.
EDSmart ranked MSU Texas 19th on its list of Best Online Colleges in Texas for 2020. EDsmart assessed online colleges in Texas based on data that covers four main areas: cost, graduation rate, retention rate, and salary after attending (the median earnings of former students who received federal financial aid, at 10 years after entering the school). All data was gathered from the U.S. Dept of Education websites College Scorecard and College Navigator.
The Guide to Online Schools by SR Education Group ranked MSU Texas at 19th in the 2020 list of Best Online Colleges in Texas. Rankings were based on a combination of manually researched tuition, accreditation, and PayScale salary data. To be considered, schools needed to offer at least 10 fully online degrees with at least five fully online bachelor’s level degrees and at least five online master’s level programs, both of which must cover at least three subject areas.
In addition to the online rankings, Washington Monthly magazine placed MSU Texas at 36th in its regional list of 2019 Best Bang for the Buck Rankings: South. The methodology states that their exclusive lists, which help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices, are created using social mobility metrics from four-year institutions.
