Carlston named 2018 Hardin Professor
Dr. David Carlston, Professor of Psychology, was named Hardin Professor for 2018 during the Midwestern State University commencement ceremony May 12. Hardin Professor is the highest honor bestowed upon a faculty member at the university each year.
Carlston came to MSU Texas in 2004 as Assistant Professor and is currently Interim Chair of the Department of Psychology. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Brigham Young University and his master's and doctorate degrees from Ohio University.
He has published research in more than 10 peer-reviewed journals and has presented at more than 60 meetings or conventions.
Carlston serves as chair of the Faculty Senate, on the financial aid and admission task force, as an academic adviser, and as a reviewer for Early Childhood Research Quarterly and Scientific Journals International. He also chairs the Graduate Medical Education Committee for the Wichita Falls Family Medicine Residency and is a member of the Wichita Falls Board of Health.
The Hardin Foundation for Wichita County established the annual award in 1962 for a member of the MSU faculty whose teaching and research of the preceding 12 months has brought distinction to the faculty member and the institution. The award carries with it a stipend of $4,000. Carlston is the 58th professor to receive the honor.
