University sets another record for first-time, full-time students
For the second year in a row, Midwestern State University set a record enrollment for first-time, full-time students at 973, a 5.2% increase over the Fall 2024 cohort. In total, 980 new first-time students (full- and part-time) enrolled for fall courses. Total enrollment for fall is 5,287.
The effects of the larger first-time classes are being realized across campus. Semester credit hours increased 1.5%, and average class load rose to 11.49 from 11.23. Housing occupancy rose 2.3%, and Pierce Hall reopened this fall to accommodate the growing residential population.
“We are encouraged by the growth in our new student population,” MSU Texas President Stacia Haynie said. “We continue to focus on student access and success.”
This semester, the university is launching its Student Success Center along with the Military Education Center. The centralized support hub will offer streamlined access to services while facilitating the academic success of all MSU Texas students as well as the unique needs of military-connected students.
“This new initiative will provide us another avenue to ensure that students choosing MSU Texas connect and engage. It is important that each student can have access to the resources they need to thrive and persist with the ultimate goal of walking across the graduation stage,” Haynie said.
