MSU Texas, Harvey School of Visual Arts will host high school art competition

Midwestern State University and the Juanita and Ralph Harvey School of Visual Arts will host the Annual High School Art Competition, an exhibition of work created by public high school students.

The exhibition begins Monday, Jan. 27, and ends with a reception for the public and student participants and their families from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in the Fain Fine Arts Center Foyer Gallery. Scholarships and cash awards will be presented at approximately noon in the gallery. The show closes directly after the reception.

The exhibition will consist of approximately 250 works of art created by students representing more than 20 different Texas high schools. “This is always an outstanding exhibition of artwork in a variety of media such as graphic art, photography, drawing, prints, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media,” said Steve Hilton, Professor of Art at MSU Texas and coordinator of the exhibition. “The show provides an opportunity for the public to view the work of our state’s high school students.”
