MSU Texas business degree program recognized among the best with AACSB accreditation
Midwestern State University is excited to announce a renewal of AACSB accreditation for business degree programs.
Dr. Jeff Stambaugh, the Dean of the Dillard College of Business Administration, said the AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation is the “gold standard” for business colleges. He’s proud that MSU Texas and the Dillard College have maintained that status since first being accredited in 2010.
“Retaining our accreditation is a continuous process – we never stop,” Stambaugh said. “Only about five percent of business colleges worldwide earn AACSB accreditation. The reason accreditation is so valuable for our students is because AACSB requires its colleges to be constantly innovating and improving. The bar for accreditation is continually rising. Our students and community benefit from these ever-higher standards.
He said MSU Texas submitted a written report in September 2019 that detailed the college’s efforts over the past five years to innovate and improve. “AACSB expects us to provide not only a quality education but also to make an impact on our regional economy,” Stambaugh said.
What AACSB witnessed at the Dillard College was impressive. “A team of three experienced business deans visited the College in November 2019 to verify what we had written in the report and review the college’s programs,” Stambaugh said. “They issued a very positive report to AACSB headquarters. AACSB’s Continuous Improvement Review Committee reviewed our report, and that of the three business deans in mid-January, and voted to reaccredit the College.”
