MSU Texas announces group of 2026 Legacy Walk inductees

Midwestern State University has recognized several outstanding honorees as part of its Legacy Walk induction on Thursday, June 18, 2026, celebrating individuals whose service and generosity have had a lasting impact on the university.

The Legacy Walk, originally dedicated in 1997 during MSU’s 75th anniversary, honors alumni and friends who have significantly shaped the institution’s future through their commitment and support. The first inductees came two years later, and each name is permanently inscribed along the walk as part of the university’s enduring history. This year’s honorees join a distinguished group of champions who have helped advance MSU across the generations.

The 2026 Legacy Walk honorees include:

Debbie Barrow — Barrow demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to MSU over nearly 50 years of service. Throughout her career, she worked with seven university presidents, three interim presidents, and numerous members of the Board of Regents. She retired in 2025 as the university’s chief of staff, leaving a lasting legacy of leadership and dedication.

Peggy Kimbell and the late David Kimbell — The Kimbells have been steadfast supporters of MSU through their philanthropy and advocacy. In 2014, an endowment established in honor of David Kimbell Sr. strengthened the Geosciences program by funding scholarships, equipment, and curriculum development. Their generosity ultimately led to the naming of the Kimbell School of Geosciences in recognition of the family’s impact.

Jesse Rogers, Ph.D. — Rogers devoted 48 years to Midwestern State University in a distinguished career that included roles as a chemistry professor, administrator, and university president. He served as president for 14 years, helping guide the institution through significant growth and development.

Hollis and Donna Sullivan — The Sullivans have provided strong support to MSU Texas for more than a decade, contributing to both athletics and academic programs and helping enhance opportunities for students.

“It is a great privilege to honor and celebrate the contributions of these six incredible advocates of Midwestern State University,” MSU Texas President Stacia Haynie said. “This year's inductees join a remarkable group of supporters and champions of our university. We are grateful for the generous and sustained support that they and their families have given to MSU Texas through the years.”

The honorees were introduced by Haynie before a gathering at Bolin Science Hall’s renovated atrium and each had an opportunity to speak. Rogers noted that when he was interim president in 1980, he worked in an office with Barrow and Haynie. No one—including that trio—could have forecast what was to come 46 years later, but all in attendance were glad to celebrate the many successes they have witnessed at MSU Texas.

The Legacy Walk stands as a permanent tribute to those who have helped shape MSU’s legacy, ensuring their influence is honored for years to come.
