Join us as we present the 2026 team members to our sponsors and Wichita Falls cycling community. MSU Cycling director Mario Arroyave, who joined the university in Fall 2025 is excited to unveil the outstanding young men and women who will be representing our community and university both locally and nationally this year. We hope that you can join us and look forward to your support on this special evening!
SEASON OUTLOOK
The Midwestern State University cycling team has a mission to continue to build upon its legacy heading into the 2026 Collegiate Road Race season. The team is extremely well-balanced, fielding riders in all four categories offered on the men’s side (A, B, C, D). Arroyave believes this depth is the reason the Mustangs are heavy pre-season favorites to win the South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference (SCCCC).
"Winning the SCCCC is our first priority because it shows that we not only have the best riders in the highest category offered, but are also willing to develop all of our riders to elevate their level of performance.”
The women bring back a formidable duo in Gabby Wrightsman and Emma Kasza-James, both of whom will compete in the A category. Wrightsman is looking to defend her South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference (SCCCC) title from a year ago. On the men’s side, several young riders are looking to take a big step up this season. Riders Blake Keeling and Romain Gireme continue to develop nicely within the program and will be key riders in the team’s success on the national stage. Two veteran members who bring their national-level experience with the young squad are Brody Burnham and Dusan Kalaba.
Kalaba is a two-time national champion for the Mustangs. Sebastian de Leon (Guatemala) and Mauri Maldonado (Honduras) will bring their experience racing internationally back home to make the Mustangs a program that should fare well at the Collegiate National Championships to be held in Madison, Wisconsin, from May 7-10.
