MSU Cheer earns recognition at national tournaments in Orlando
MSU Cheer is off to an outstanding start in 2025, competing with the best squads in the nation. MSU Cheer finished third at the International Cheer Union University World Cup Championship and qualified for the Universal Cheer Association College National Championships finals. These competitions occurred at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Center in Orlando, Florida.
In the UCA College National Championships, the team competed in the D1 Small Coed Game Day Division, which involves a three-minute routine featuring the school fight song, a situational cheer, and a timeout routine. MSU Cheer competed against 22 collegiate teams during the preliminary round, earning a high enough score to advance to the finals. The next evening, MSU Cheer delivered another strong performance and finished in 10th place to earn a trophy.
The ICU University World Cup Championship featured teams from eight countries, including the United States.
MSU Cheer competed in the Small Coed Game Day Division, and the team performed flawlessly by hitting zero, which means no deductions for errors in their routine (fight song, situational cheer, timeout). MSU Cheer placed third, earning bronze medals and a trophy. MSU Texas also achieved the highest score of any NCAA Division II university in the division, solidifying its place as a top-tier program on the global stage.
The MSU Cheer members are: Brylie Green (mascot), Abby Lee, Amanda Kearns, Chloe Whiteaker, Bella Kelleher, Elizabeth Martinez, Ellis Johnson, Gianni Latimer, Hayley Gardner, Kileigh Liggett, Kira Marksberry, McKenna Hudlin, Kylie Murray, Kynzee Jackson, Laurel Cremer, Lauren Moon, Lauren Conner, Madelyn Tate, Mia Villarreal, Peyton Hill, Presley-Ann Dutton, Rhegan Lyons, Samantha Garcia, Manny Ortiz, Jose Flores Rivera, and Landon Ellis. Danlee Duncan is the head coach, assisted by Lexi King.
