Comtemporary rock musical opens season for Red River Lyric Opera
Red River Lyric Opera has delivered live Opera and Musical Theater performances to Wichita Falls and MSU since 2011. Singers, theater techs, pianists, and directors from all over the country join MSU Texas students and faculty to produce four shows with a professional orchestra.
All MSU staff, faculty, and students receive free admission to all productions.
We open the season with a contemporary rock musical, DOGFIGHT, by Pasek and Paul. This production is Friday, July 21, and Saturday, July 22, at 7:30 p.m. This production is for adults (language).
ALICE: An Operatic Wonderland is a world-premiere opera by composer Amy Scurria. This production is for everyone. Children and adults will enjoy this new work with a familiar story!
The composer will be in attendance for the premiere on Tuesday, July 25, and a second performance on Friday, July 28. Both performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
L'incoronazione di Poppea (The Coronation of Poppea) is a Baroque Masterpiece by composer, Claudio Monteverdi. This opera will be performed in Italian with English supertitles. Monday, July 24, and Wednesday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m.
The season ends with a beautiful musical by Adam Guettel, The Light in the Piazza. Performances Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 29, at 2:30 p.m.
All performances are in the Fain Fine Arts Theater on Louis Rodriguez Drive.
