MSU Texas names Leah Gose as dean for Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts
Leah Gose has been named dean of Midwestern State University’s (MSU Texas) Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts. Gose has served as interim this past year and begins immediately as dean.
“Ms. Gose brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Fain College of Fine Arts,” said Interim President Keith Lamb. “We are grateful to Ms. Gose for her leadership these past months, and we look forward to her continued direction and tremendous energy she brings to the college.”
Gose came to MSU Texas in 2020 as an associate professor of art and as chair of the Juanita & Ralph Harvey School of Visual Arts. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography and Intermedia from Texas Woman’s University. Previously, Gose served Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University in Grand Rapids, MI, from 2014-2020 as a photography faculty member and Photography Department Chair.
“I am extremely proud to be named as the dean of the Lamar D. College of Fine Arts. From the moment I interviewed three years ago, I knew MSU and Wichita Falls was home,” said Gose. “I am excited to continue working with amazing faculty and staff to bring about positive change in education and our community through the arts.”
Her art practice reflects the multilayered ways of investigating perception, memory, and personal history and incorporates historic and contemporary photographic processes. The works contain elements of truth and fiction, resembling vague memories and the reconstruction of events. Her work has been exhibited in national and international venues.
Gose serves on the advisory boards for the Wichita Falls Museum of Art and the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture. She is on the board of directors for the Society of Photographic Education.
