Faculty Forum returns with Robert Forrester
The Faculty Forum returns to Midwestern State University with Robert Forrester, the Dillard Distinguished Professor of Energy Finance, giving the Hardin Professor Lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Clark Student Center Wichita Suites.
Forrester’s talk, “When You See a Fork,” was inspired by the Yogi Berra quote, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” Baseball great Berra was almost as famous for his “Yogiisms” as he was his baseball abilities.
“The short talk explains my disjointed road to academia and what I do now that I’m here,” Forrester said. His path to academia was not typical. He was an established and highly successful business owner when he enrolled at MSU Texas to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration, both completed in four years. He joined the MSU Texas faculty as a lecturer in 2010, then completed a Doctorate of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University in 2014.
Forrester was named Hardin Professor, Midwestern State’s highest faculty honor, in May of 2022. He is an associate professor of finance and serves as chair of the Department of Economics, Finance and General Business in the Dillard College of Business Administration.
As a professor, he has found continued success in business, while engaging academic research and service to the university.
For the next Faculty Forum, Associate Professor of Music Matthew Luttrell will speak about “The Great Conductors: Enhancing Interpersonal Communication through Physical Intelligence” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 7. Location to be announced. Luttrell is director of bands and orchestra.
Faculty Forum is a monthly showcase for the research and creative endeavors of the MSU Texas faculty. It is an opportunity for the campus and Wichita Falls communities to learn, engage, and sometimes discuss the novel ideas and explorations of the talented individuals who teach, discover, and create at MSU Texas. Admission is free and open to all. Contact Jonathan Price by email or call 940-397-4288 for more information.
