Streich Lecture to cap Dillard International Week activities
International Week activities at Midwestern State University’s Dillard College of Business Administration will close with the 40th Annual Streich Family Lecture Series on Free Enterprise. Assistant Professor of Economics Andrew Holt will moderate a panel discussion with the owners of Air Tractor at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in Dillard 101.
The panel discussion with Olney’s Air Tractor employee-owners Phil Jeske, Scott Neal, and John Hensley will be “How Exporting Took a Small-Town Business to New Heights.” Air Tractor produces agricultural aircraft that are at work around the world.
International Week is one of many educational and cultural events held to raise awareness about the breadth of international education, activities, and resources available in the college and community. Events begin at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in Dillard 121 with a presentation and discussion about London Study Abroad.
Tuesday, Nov. 15, events include an International Scholars Panel discussion from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Dillard 101 and a Spain and France Study Abroad presentation and discussion from 4-5 p.m. in Dillard 121.
Wednesday, Nov. 16, events feature presentations from international students from 11-11:50 a.m. in Dillard 101 and Grenada Study Abroad presentation and discussion from 4-5 p.m. in Dillard 121.
The Streich Family Lecture Series is named in honor of the Streich family, owners of former area Gibson’s Discount Centers, and is designed to give MSU Texas students, staff, and the public insight into the American free enterprise system in relation to today’s economic status. Former speakers include Bloomberg economist Richard Yamarone, the late Texas businessman T. Boone Pickens, Lindley H. Clark Jr. of The Wall Street Journal, international economist Dr. John Marthinsen, and former Texas Comptroller Susan Combs.
