Richard Young honored by Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities & Social Sciences

Richard Young’s path to founding and managing an international trade and security consultancy firm began at Midwestern State University. His SECURUS Strategic Trade Solutions is a global foreign trade problem solver and information source that merges the insights of business, law, policy, and academia with an office in Wichita Falls.

Young has always had passion for travel and has visited more than 50 countries. He has fond memories of studying abroad in Kuwait, which Dr. Ken Hendrickson from the history department helped arrange for him. At MSU Texas, Young was active on campus and served as a student senator for four years and held leadership positions in several student organizations.

His experiences and lessons learned at MSU Texas helped him to realize his desire for a career in international affairs and provided him with knowledge and skills he has applied throughout his life.

Beyond what he received from MSU Texas, Young is passionate about giving back to the university. His company provides internships for students with the hope of providing the same foundation for their professional lives that his MSU Texas experiences provided him.

Young earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and history from MSU Texas in 1998, and completed his master’s degree in political science at the University of Georgia in 2002.
