Fain Fine Arts releases new short film

Happy New Year from the Fain College of Fine Arts. We are proud to present our new short film, The Red River Valley, not only as a farewell to 2021 but also as a hopeful welcome to 2022.

The timing of this release couldn’t be more perfect, as The Red River Valley is a poetic look at the concept of farewells. As time moves forward and pushes us all into new chapters of our lives, it’s important to take time to reflect on those who helped bring us to where we are. Set against the backdrop of the Red River, this documentary is a solemn and heartfelt thank you to those who made and make our lives possible.

This film marks the second collaboration between the Departments of Mass Communication and Music at MSU Texas. Professors Jonathon Quam and Thomas Wininger,

working with the MSU Texas choirs, produced this piece to showcase their respective programs and present the choir’s new calling card arrangement of the traditional cowboy song The Red River Valley.

The music was arranged by Ramon Gonzalez, a recent MSU Texas graduate, and recorded by Tim Klingler. This new interpretation of the song soars over the immensely beautiful landscapes of North Texas as it’s performed by the MSU Texas choirs. The film was produced by Associate Professor of Mass Communication Jonathon Quam.
