MSU Texas names President’s Medal for Excellence recipients

Students graduating with the highest grade point averages from each of the six academic colleges were honored at the Midwestern State University commencement ceremony held May 1. The President’s Medal for Excellence winners received their medals from President Suzanne Shipley.

Accounting majors Syarra T. Tonge and Bethany M. Ward graduated summa cum laude from the Dillard College of Business Administration.

Early childhood through grade 6 majors Brooke N. Schreiber, Nicole E. Allison, and Madison S. Smith earned summa cum laude honors from the Gordon T. & Ellen West College of Education.

Nicholas P. Lanier, mass communication major, graduated summa cum laude from the Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts.

Radiologic technology majors Sedona L. Swanner, Rebekah E. Proffitt, and Kristin M. Boone along with social work major Shelby L. Shillingburg, respiratory care major Kelsey N. Shahan, and dental hygiene major Casey B. Reinert all graduated summa cum laude from the Robert D. & Carol Gunn College of Health Sciences & Human Services.

English major Elizabeth C. Mahan and psychology major Anna C. Williams graduated summa cum laude from the Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities & Social Sciences.

Kevin K. Davis, computer science major, earned summa cum laude honors from the McCoy College of Science, Mathematics & Engineering.

Summa cum laude graduates must have a minimum of a 3.9 grade point average.
