MSU Texas Cheer finishes 2nd in national event

The Midwestern State University Cheerleaders participated in the 2021 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading National Championship virtually on April 27, 2021. MSU Texas Cheer finished in second place as the National Champion runner-up in College Game Day for the Open Coed Cheer Division against many colleges and universities from across the nation.

The UCA & UDA College Cheerleading National Championship is the most prestigious college cheerleading championship in the United States. The championship was held at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida, with a virtual option for schools unable to travel due to the pandemic. The event was televised on ESPN and ESPN2 to over 100 million homes and 32 countries.

“We are so proud of the team for their hard work and dedication," said Angie Reay, the Director of the Redwine Wellness Center and also a sponsor of MSU Texas Cheer. "They faced many obstacles with restrictions this year with COVID-19. They overcame these obstacles to finish out the year strong! We are thankful for the administration’s support to allow us to compete virtually this year.”

The Midwestern State Cheerleading program would like to thank the entire MSU Texas community for their continued support.
