EarthX founder Trammell S. Crow next Speakers & Issues guest

Dallas businessman, philanthropist, and the founder of EarthX, the world’s largest eco-celebration, will be the next speaker for Midwestern State University’s Speakers & Issues Series. Trammell S. Crow will speak about “EarthX – Past/Present/Future” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU Texas. In-person seating will be limited to 30 people. A Zoom option will be available also.

EarthX, which will be held April 16-25, is the largest annual exposition and forum displaying initiatives, research, innovations, policies, and corporate practices to create solutions for protecting the oceans, forests, and climate. The exhibition brings together communities, education, businesses, families, government, music, influential public figures, and more for the Earth Day weekend. Since its inception in 2011, EarthX has had 775,000 attendees, 680 exhibitors, and 400 speakers. This year, EarthX will celebrate the 51st anniversary of Earth Day.

Crow’s philanthropy benefits various nonprofit organizations that are active in family planning, education, the environment, community initiatives, and political causes. He serves on the executive board of ConservAmerica, the board of directors for the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, the board of trustees for the American Renewable Energy Institute, and is on the Texas Advisory Board for the Environmental Defense Fund. He is the co-founder of Texas Business for Clean Air, and Texans for Clean Water.

He also serves on the board of Million Acre Pledge, a charity in which individuals conserve or restore forests and ecosystems; Crow has committed to protecting 250,000 acres in Suriname.

For his devotion to environmentalism, Crow was acknowledged at the 20th anniversary Global Green Awards in 2016. He is co-chair of Global Green USA.

Admission is free; donations are welcome. Because of the limited seating, RSVP is required for in-person attendance. Call 940-397-8900 to RSVP or for more information, or email Associate Professor of History Whitney Snow at whitney.snow@msutexas.edu. Others are encouraged to join via Zoom.

The Speakers and Issues Series began in 2001 with the idea of bringing informed and creative speakers to the academic and municipal communities. Since then, speakers have come to MSU from all corners of the country. It is supported by the Libra Foundation, MSU’s Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Wichita Falls Times Record News, KCCU-FM NPR Radio, and KFDX-TV3.
