Midwestern State University’s Wilson School of Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program is proud to share that it was ranked second among online programs by the Registered Nursing Organization.

Robin Lockhart, Assistant Professor and Chair of the program, said she was proud of this recognition as there are numerous online programs in the United States. The awarding organization ranks online FNP programs based on eight criteria including graduation rate, annual tuition and fees, the ratio of instructional faculty that are tenured, and certification examination success.

The FNP program began in 1994 and now admits 60 students each year. Graduates of the program find employment in the community and across the United States. The faculty holding FNP certification teach and practice in the communities surrounding the university. The faculty, graduates, and students of this program are committed to providing advanced practice nursing health care to our communities.

“The Wilson School of Nursing takes pride in every program they offer,” said Dr. Jeff Killion, Dean of the Gunn College of Health Sciences & Human Services. “This No. 2 ranking in the U.S. of the FNP program is an acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication of the faculty and staff of the program. It’s exciting to see the FNP program nationally-ranked and bring recognition to the nursing department and Midwestern State University.”
