Price named 2019 Hardin Professor
Dr. Jonathan D. Price, Chair and Associate Professor of Geosciences, was named Hardin Professor for 2019 during the Midwestern State University commencement ceremony May 11. Hardin Professor is the highest honor bestowed upon a faculty member at the university each year.
Price was hired an as assistant professor in 2010 and was promoted and granted tenure in 2016. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in geology from Baylor University and received his Ph.D. in geology from the University of Oklahoma.
He has more than 26 publications in several peer-reviewed journals and has given 19 invited presentations. He is a three-time College of Science & Mathematics Geosciences Professor of the Year, and in 2009 was appointed as Senior Research Associate to the New York State Museum.
Price serves as the chair of the Kimbell School of Geosciences at MSU Texas, and is also the Prothro Distinguished Associate Professor of Geologic Science.
The Hardin Foundation for Wichita County established the annual award in 1962 for a member of the MSU faculty whose teaching and research of the preceding 12 months has brought distinction to the faculty member and the institution. The award carries with it a stipend of $5,000. Price is the 59th professor to receive the honor.
