University athletics honors Robert Grays
One year ago this week, Midwestern State University mourned the passing of football player Robert T. Grays, who suffered a life-ending injury while on the field of play. This week, student-athletes from each of the university's athletic programs will honor Robert's memory with 24 Acts of Kindness - the number of his jersey that has since been retired.
"Through these 24 acts, we honor Robert's memory by sharing joy and kindness - traits that Robert is so well remembered for," said Athletic Director Kyle Williams.
Throughout the week teams have performed acts of kindness by greeting students at Zundy Elementary, writing notes of gratitude, repairing divots at the golf course, offering a free soccer clinic, cleaning trays at Mavericks Corner, and assisting with a shoe drive, among other acts.
As a special tribute, the football team will end its Wednesday practice with 24 pushups. The campus and community is invited to attend.
Our campus and local communities are encouraged to honor Robert's memories with their own acts of kindness. Share tributes to Robert by posting to social media with #24Strong.
