Dedication Honors McCoy's Generosity to University

A dedication ceremony for the newly named McCoy College of Science, Mathematics & Engineering recognized and celebrated the extraordinary generosity of longtime donors James N. and Vicki McCoy at
Wednesday, August 29, in Bolin Science Hall, Room 100. The ceremony also marked an institutional milestone as the final of Midwestern State University's six colleges is officially named.

The MSU Texas Board of Regents approved the naming of the college in February and accepted a
multi-year pledge from the James N. McCoy Foundation that invests in the renovation and first phase of expansion of Bolin Science Hall. The remodel and expansion project for Bolin Science Hall will enhance and improve the capacity to meet student needs in geosciences, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and engineering.

"Jim and Vicki's vision has helped the university shape an impressive educational foundation for our students in engineering, mathematics and science. They have empowered us to equip spaces, recruit gifted faculty, and provide support for deserving students," said President Suzanne Shipley. "We are excited to celebrate their generosity as we mark this transformative opportunity for MSU Texas."

The remodel and expansion project will take a phased approach and will include the following initiatives:

        Administrative and student services suite,

Entry lobby and student gathering space,

        Student computing lab,

        Office suite for Geosciences, and

Additional exterior and interior renovations and expansion priorities.

Bolin Science Hall was last renovated in 1997. The facility, named in 1977 in recognition of the Bolin family's support of science and mathematics programs, now houses biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, the Kimbell School of Geosciences, and the Robert L. Bolin Graduate School of Petroleum Geology.
