Exhibit at WFMA at MSU to celebrate 50 years of acquisitions
The Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU will present a special exhibition celebrating the Museum's Golden Anniversary. Highlights from the Permanent Collection will be on view September 22 through December 21.
The exhibition celebrates the museum's 50-year history of serving the community with excellent exhibitions and programs, and for acquiring an important collection of American art. The permanent collection has grown since 1967 to include more than 2,000 artworks ranging from major works by Jasper Johns, Jackson Pollock, Leonard Baskin, Andy Warhol, Winslow Homer, Mary Cassatt, John Sloan, as well as works by many contemporary artists including Mary McCleary, Benito Huerta, Judy Youngblood, Ron Adams, and many others. Danny Bills, curator of collections and exhibitions, has filled the galleries with selected major artworks to demonstrate the depth and breadth of the permanent collection.
An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 28, at the museum and is free and open to the public. The exhibition is made possible by a grant from the Fain Foundation.
