WFMA Curator Danny Bills to serve on board of Mountain Plains Museum Association
Danny Bills, curator of collections and exhibitions at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU, has been appointed to serve as the Texas representative on the board of directors of the Mountain Plains Museum Association (MPMA).
Bills has been part of the WFMA since 1998. As curator, he is responsible for the cataloging, preservation, and presentation of the museum's artwork and objects. He also manages exhibition installation. Bills received his BFA from Midwestern State University in 1994 and his MFA from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas.
MPMA is a 10-state regional organization of museums and museum professionals from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Montana, that advocates excellence in the field, provides a forum for communication among professionals, and shares creative learning opportunities with the region's diverse audiences. The MPMA board of directors is composed of leaders in the museum industry with professional interest and experience in museums. The board ensures that MPMA's mission is consistently and effectively implemented; that policies are in place to oversee the fiduciary and managerial policies; and that all procedures meet current museum and business standards of the American Alliance of Museums.
The MPMA board includes officers, nine members-at-large, 10 state representatives, as well as representatives from professional interest networks including the Association of Academic Museums & Galleries, the EMP Emerging Museum Professionals, the Indigenous Peoples and Museums Network, and Small Museum Administrators Committee.
