rePercussion to Kick Off MSU's Artist-Lecture Series
A group known for blurring the lines between electronic music, drumlines, rock, and slapstick comedy will kick off the spring season of Midwestern State University's Artist-Lecture Series. rePercussion will come to Akin Auditorium at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017.
rePercussion goes beyond interactive drumming by blending sight, sound, and laughter to bring an entertaining, customizable experience to the stage. The group combines its drumming with comedy and crowd interaction to make each show a one-of-a-kind experience that is tailored to the audience. Crowds become engaged, creating a lasting impression.
Composed of high-energy entertainment veterans, rePercussion has performed for hundreds of thousands of people in venues around the world. rePercussion holds the World Record for leading the world's largest Airdrum Ensemble.
The next guest for the Artist-Lecture Series is robotic scientist Heather Knight on Tuesday, March 21. Knight specializes in human-robot interaction and uses robotics and entertainment to spark interest in science and technology. Her research involves nonverbal machine communications and nonanthropomorphic social robots. She was named to the 2011 Forbes List for 30 under 30 in Science and is featured for her robot comedy performances on TED.
The Artist-Lecture Series was established in 1964 to bring noted lectures and quality programs in the performing arts to the MSU campus and the Wichita Falls community.
