Liberal Arts Education Subject of MSU's Faculty Forum Series

How will Midwestern State University carry out its mission of providing a liberal arts education to its students? A panel of professors will address the subject in the opening event of the MSU's Faculty Forum Series. "Implementing a Liberal Arts Education; Moving from Concept to Practice - A Panel Discussion" will open the spring segment of the series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in the Multipurpose Room in Legacy Hall.

The panel will discuss how the liberal arts and sciences tradition is being integrated into the core of MSU's mission. At MSU, faculty members and programs are incorporating and building into their own programs the critical thinking, reading, and communications skills that are characteristic of a liberal arts education.

Dr. Todd Giles, Assistant Professor of English, will moderate the panel of Dr. Andrea Button, Assistant Professor of Sociology; Dr. Angela Cartwright, Assistant Professor of Education; Dr. Mitzi Lewis, Associate Professor of Mass Communication; Dr. Dale McDonald, Associate Professor of Engineering; Dr. Paul San Miguel, Assistant Professor of Accounting/MIS; Dr. Mike Shipley, Professor of Biology; and Dr. Kathleen Williamson, Associate Professor and Chair of Nursing.

The Faculty Forum is an interdisciplinary lecture series presented by MSU to provide faculty the opportunity to have their scholarship recognized in the community and to promote the exchange of ideas among colleagues.
