Holiday Spectacular to Draw Community, Students
A series of events planned for Saturday, December 3, on the Midwestern State University campus is designed to involve the community and students in holiday activities, and raise funds for the donor-supported Fantasy of Lights displays.
At 2:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m., see a production of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol, performed in interactive fashion by the MSU Theatre Department in the Fain Fine Arts Theatre. People of all ages will enjoy this new, light-hearted approach to the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge. This adaptation of the Christmas classic utilizes audience participation to supply sound effects, fill in for missing actors, and join in a Christmas carol sing-a-long. General admission tickets are $10. Price is $8 for pre-college students, senior citizens, and military. For more information or for season ticket or group ticket information, call the box office at 940-397-4393, the publicity office at 940-397-4399, or the Department of Theatre at 940-397-4670.
At 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m., join the MSU Music Department for a free Holiday Gala concert in Akin Auditorium.
The MSU-Burns Fantasy of Lights 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run begins at 5 p.m. on the Hardin Administration Building lawn and will run a route around the MSU campus. Late registration and check-in begins at 4:30 p.m. The run began three years ago as a way to raise additional funds for the Fantasy of Lights.
From 5 p.m.-8 p.m., food trucks will be stationed in the parking area behind Moffett Library, near the Fantasy of Lights. A variety of food, snack, and drink options will be available. Seating and restroom facilities will be provided. DJ Maniac will play a mix of holiday favorites. A partial list of food trucks includes Bahama Buck's, Cool Arrows, McKinney BBQ, Mija's, Mr. G Freeze, Old Time Funnel Cakes, Red River Hot Dog, Stone Oven Pizza, and The Crabb Shack.
