MSU Names President's Distinguished Scholars
Midwestern State University has named 10 students, including eight from the Wichita Falls area, recipients of the Jane and Peyton Carnes President's Distinguished Scholarships. Each will receive $28,000 over four years of undergraduate study. The program recognizes the leadership abilities of superior incoming freshmen and encourages their participation as MSU campus leaders.
The 2016 recipients are Andrew Coyne, homeschool, son of Teresa Coyne and Patrick Coyne of Fort Worth; Logann Ewers, Clovis High School, daughter of Dannette and Rob Ewers of Clovis, N.M.; Mervyn Harp, Iowa Park High School, son of Veronica Harp of Iowa Park; Rachel Morgan, Christ Academy, daughter of Dr. Pam Morgan and Jerry Morgan of Wichita Falls; Michaella O'Brien, Iowa Park High School, daughter of Brenna O'Brien of Iowa Park; Jaren Parker, Holliday High School, daughter of Wendy and Mike Parker of Holliday; Nathaniel Shawver, City View High School, son of Terah Kay Shawver of Wichita Falls; Bailey Smoot, City View High School, daughter of Jeanna Smoot and Gary Smoot of Wichita Falls; Kaleb Welch, Rider High School, son of Lauren Webb and Erik Welch of Wichita Falls; and Alexander Zeizinger, Rider High School, son of Sarah and Uwe Zeizinger of Wichita Falls.
