Crime Alert

Campus crime alerts are for all students, faculty and staff so that they are aware of a particular crime or crimes that are occurring on campus or in the area surrounding the campus.

The Wichita Falls Police Department is investigating two incidents that occurred over the past weekend at Mustang Village Apartments, 5005 Lake Park Drive, Wichita Falls, Texas.  In one instance, which occurred early Sunday morning, an MSU student reported that someone attempted to gain entry into her apartment, while she was home.  The suspect was apparently alerted to her presence when she fled the apartment, and entry was not gained.  In the other case, an MSU student's apartment was burglarized, and several items of personal property were taken, while she was away for the weekend.  There is currently no suspect information available.

MSU PD is urging all students, faculty and staff that may reside at Mustang Village to be aware of any suspicious subjects on or near the property. We all must be vigilant and take responsibility for personal safety. All individuals are urged to practice the following:

— Be aware of your surroundings at all times.

— If you see anything out of the ordinary, or you believe someone is a suspicious person, notify the Wichita Falls or MSU Police Department immediately!  DO NOT WAIT!

— Keep your apartment secure at all times by locking your exterior doors and windows, regardless of whether you are present. 

— Always carry a cell phone with you.

— Do not walk or jog with headphones in both ears, as doing so may interfere with your ability to hear what is going on around you.
