New Dean Gives Piano Recital

Before the new dean of Midwestern State University's Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts was an educator, he was an award-winning concert pianist. The MSU and Wichita Falls communities will have the opportunity to see the performing side of Dr. Martin Camacho during a free concert recital at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, at Akin Auditorium.

Camacho comes to MSU from Alabama State University where he was Chair and Associate Professor of Music. He began his duties at MSU Aug. 11. Although the idea for a recital was that of Dr. Betty Stewart, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Camacho said that he was glad for the opportunity to open his heart as an artist to the community and MSU stakeholders.

The program includes Latin American music by Ponce and Ruiz Armengol, and European romantic music by Franz Liszt.
