Music Students Plan Evening in Italy Fundraiser

Music Students Plan Evening in Italy Fundraiser

Guests will be transported across the sea to the land of Italy for the annual Evening in Italy fundraiser dinner hosted by Midwestern Music Advocates and the Department of Music at Midwestern State University.

The dinner is at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, in the Clark Student Center Atrium and Comanche Suites at Midwestern State University. The event is organized by students to benefit music scholarships and student organizations in the Department of Music.

Musicians and singers will entertain the guests with operatic vocal pieces. Current students and alumni are participating in the entertainment. MSU's art department has created a backdrop for guests to have their picture taken with before the dinner begins.

Tables will be named after Italian landmarks and marked with information cards about the landmark so guests can learn a little Italian history. Each table will have a special Italian-inspired centerpiece. Gift baskets from Olive Garden and Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant will be given away as prizes. The students will make the dinner a classy affair for the guests by dressing in tuxedos and formal dresses.

The menu includes Caesar salad or marinated tomato and cucumber salad, chicken marsala with Italian green beans, rosemary roasted potatoes, and cheesecake.

Student organizations participating are Midwestern Music Advocates, University Singers, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Kappa Pi.

Tickets are $20 in advance only. Seating is limited. For more information or reservations, call the Department of Music at (940) 397-4916 from 1-5 p.m. by Friday.
