Shelby Davis Appointed Student Regent for 2013-2014
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Shelby Davis to serve as the Midwestern State University Student Regent for a one-year term effective June 1, 2013. She is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mass communication.
Davis, a Petrolia High School graduate, is the editor-in-chief of the university yearbook, Wai-Kun. She is an MSU Student Ambassador, member of Sigma Phi Lambda, Mustangs Rally host and campus tour guide, a freelance writer for The Wichitan, and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, where she serves as a senator for the Student Government Association. Davis was a finalist in 2012 for the MSU Freshman Woman of the Year and has been recognized on the Dean's List.
Davis's volunteer activities include Faith Mission Bake Sale coordinator and Night in a Box team leader, Colonial Church Trunk-or-Treat and Food Pantry Thanksgiving Distribution, USO Write Night, MSU Homecoming and Family Day.
Davis will replace MSU student Holly Allsup whose term expires on May 31.
