Dr. Betty Stewart Named Provost and VP of Academic Affairs

Midwestern State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Betty Stewart as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs effective August 1.

Stewart is no stranger to the MSU campus as she served as the dean of MSU's College of Science and Mathematics from 2006 to 2010. Since that time she has served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.

"Betty's academic background, continuing record of scholarship, and administrative experience make her well-suited to serve in this capacity," said University President Jesse W. Rogers. "We are pleased that she will be returning to campus."

Stewart earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Mississippi State and her Ph.D. in Protein Biochemistry, Biological Sciences from Carnegie-Mellon University.

Before her first tenure at MSU, Stewart taught chemistry at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and served as the chair of the department from 2000 to 2006.
