MSU Alumnus Appointed to Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board

Munir Lalani, alumnus and past chair of the MSU Board of Regents, was one of five new members appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to serve on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board effective September 1, 2011. The board sets policies and coordinates efforts to improve higher education in Texas.

Lalani is president and CEO of Lalani Lodging. He is a board member of the Bank of Commerce in Oklahoma, Commerce Bancorp, and Wichita Falls Young Life. Lalani established and has served as an advisory board member of the Munir Abdul Lalani Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise at Midwestern State University. He is a past board member of the Wichita Falls Metropolitan YMCA and the Priddy Foundation Board of Trustees. Lalani is also a past president of the North Texas Restaurant Association, and a past board member of the Wichita Falls Board of Commerce and Industry, Wichita Appraisal District Board, and North Texas Rehabilitation Center. He is appointed for a term to expire Aug. 31, 2015.

Other appointees are Robert "Bobby" Jenkins Jr. of Austin, James H. Lee of Houston, Janelle Shepard of Weatherford, and David Teuscher of Beaumont.
