Linda Aguilera Appointed Student Regent for 2011-2012
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Linda Aguilera to serve as the Midwestern State University Student Regent for a one-year term effective June 1, 2011. She is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
As an MSU student, Aguilera has served as the vice president of the Correctional Counselors Association, president of the Spanish Club, and junior senator for the Student Government Association. She was named to the Provost's Honor Roll in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 and is a member of the National Honor Society of Criminal Justice Alpha Phi Sigma.
Aguilera has also served as a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity, organized a Haiti and Chile Earthquake Relief fundraiser, and mentored children at a Christian summer camp in Quito, Ecuador.
In addition to her educational pursuits and volunteerism, Aguilera works for Group Excellence where she tutors and mentors high school students. In her role, she teaches Math TAKS objectives and provides information about higher education.
Aguilera will replace MSU student David Reyna whose term is expiring on May 31.
