Juanita Harvey Art Gallery presents Robin Becker and James Chressanthis
The Juanita Harvey Art Gallery at Midwestern State University presents Robin Becker and James Chressanthis: Shadows and Light in the main gallery through February 18 and the British Studies photography exhibit in the foyer gallery through February 4. Becker and Chressanthis are the featured O'Donnell Visiting Artists.
An opening reception for the exhibitions is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2011, in the foyer and main galleries.
Becker is a mixed media artist working and living in Topanga, Calif. She received her MFA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Becker's artwork uses multiple layers of images of landscapes, architecture, diary journeys, drawing, and painting to produce brightly colored works that evoke ideas about memory and place.
Chressanthis is a cinematographer and director whose work has spanned the worlds of feature films, television movies, music videos, commercials, and documentaries. Chressanthis has been twice nominated for an Academy Award. He is also a visual artist working in traditional photography and mixed media painting and digital collage. He earned his master's degrees from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.
