Matthew Capps appointed new dean of West College of Education

 

 

University President Jesse Rogers has appointed Dr. Matthew Capps the new dean of the West College of Education effective July 1.   Capps currently holds the position of associate professor of Educational Leadership and Technology and NCATE Coordinator/Assessment Software Coordinator at MSU.

Capps earned his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Education degrees from Midwestern State University and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.

He taught in the Wichita Falls Independent School District before serving as assistant principal at Kate Burgess and later as principal of Selman Intermediate School in Sealy, Texas. He was an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas before coming to Midwestern State University in 2006.

His professional organizations include the National Council of Professor of Educational Administration where he served on the membership committee and the publications committee, the Association for Institutional Research, the American Educational Research Association, and the Texas Association of Teacher Educators.

Capps replaces Dean Grant Simpson who is retiring after ten years of service at MSU.
