MSU Theatre captures top honors again
For the second consecutive year, the Midwestern State University Theatre has captured top honors at a Texas State American College Theater Festival.
At the festival hosted by MSU October 14-16, MSU's production of And the Rain Came to Mayfield earned both the Respondent's Choice and Directors' Choice Awards. Those awards qualify the production for consideration of the Region VI ACTF. Region VI includes the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Other recognition garnered by MSU at this year's festival included awards for Excellence in Directing (Brandon Smith), Scene Design (Justen Locke), Properties Design (Will Palmer), and Costume Design (Sydney Stockton). Three cast members from And the Rain Came to Mayfield were selected to compete for the Irene Ryan Scholarships awarded each year through ACTF: Sydney Stockton, Trinton Williams, and Matthew Griffin.
