Dr. Schuppener to speak at Faculty Form

Dr. James Schuppener, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities, will open the 2009-10 Faculty Forum series at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 in Akin Auditorium. His presentation, Responsibilities of a Choral Director: What you're taught and what you learn, will address the demands on a student of conducting as well as the seasoned professional with many years of conducting experience. Schuppener will discuss a teaching philosophy that has been influenced by many of his former teachers and by research undertaken to develop his own choral conducting philosophy.

In addition, the MSU University Singers will perform two diverse choral compositions to illustrate the extremes of conducting styles and end the presentation. Mrs. Jerri sparks, MSU's staff accompanist, will participate in the performance.

Faculty, students, and members of the community are invited to attend at no charge.
