Gov. Perry appoints MSU dean to State board of Educator Certification
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed five members to the Texas State Board for Educator Certification. the board develops certification and continuing education requirements and standards of conduct for public school teachers.
Grant W. Simpson of Gainesville is an author and dean of Midwestern State University's West College of Education. He is chairman of the Texas Association of Colleges for Teacher Education Legislative Committee and the Region 9 P-16 Council. He is also a member of the Gainesville Episcopal Church. Simpson received a bachelor's degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., a master's degree in special education from the University of Texas at Austin, and a doctorate degree in educational administration from Texas A&M University. He replaces Jeanne Gerlach of Southlake for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2011.
Also appointed were Bradley W. Allard of Burleson, Bonny Cain of Pearland, Benny W. Morris of Cleburne and Judy Robison of El Paso.
