FREE COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Taking measures to stay healthy is as important as getting treatment when you are sick. A Community Health Fair will be held at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art on the Midwestern State University campus (Eureka Circle off of Midwestern Parkway) on Friday,
  April 24, 2009  from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.  The theme of the health fair is "Put Prevention into Practice".  Numerous activities will teach health promotion, and disease and injury prevention for participants of all ages.  All activities are FREE.           

         Health screening - vision, glaucoma, hearing, blood pressure, body mass index, glucose, lung function, and leg circulation.

         Disease prevention activities - heart disease, stroke, diabetes, breast cancer, skin cancer, STDs, HIV / AIDS, eating disorders, osteoporosis and HPV / cervical cancer.

         Health promotion activities - nutrition, physical activity, weight loss, , immunization, hand hygiene, oral health, family planning, pregnancy help,

         Injury prevention activities - domestic violence, drowning, motor vehicles, poisoning, fires, firearms, sun exposure, and violence & abuse, smoking, substance abuse

         Car seat inspections by D.A.R.E.

         Activity demonstrations by area gyms and wellness centers

         Texas Blood Institute blood drive.
