NEW DIRECTOR TAKES OVER PEDALS OF THE MSU CYCLING TEAM

Named the Collegiate Cycling Club of the Year in 2004 by USA Cycling and with 21 collegiate national championship titles won since 1994, the Midwestern State University Cycling Team has quite a legacy in collegiate cycling.  That's what the school's new cycling team director, Julie Carter, hopes to build upon.

Carter, a former junior national champion cyclist, has spent five years directing some of the top amateur men's cycling teams in the country and is currently directing the ABD / GearGrinder Pro Development Team based out of Winfield, IL.  She has a lengthy list of her teams' outstanding performances at national - and even international - caliber events.  "I believe that the MSU cycling program and I are a good fit for each other; I am excited to grow the program as well as the sport of cycling in the Wichita Falls community."

Dr. Robert Clark, Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Enrollment Management and who began the cycling program at MSU in 1989, stated, "Julie will bring a level of expertise to our program that is comparable to that of directors of a number of pro teams.  She has coached beginning cyclists through pros and has also coached several collegiate riders from across the country.  Her skills are well-known and respected by her peers and cyclists alike.  She also brings tremendous experience in securing sponsors and promoting racing events.  This will not only benefit MSU, but the Hotter 'N Hell 100 as well.  Speaking for myself as well as the members of our cycling board and student athletes who participated in the search process, we are delighted to have someone of Julie's caliber as our new director."
