Beer and Booze! What will YOU choose?
Susie Vanderlip will host "Legacy of Hope Show" at 7:00 p.m. on March 4 in Akin Auditorium. She is a national speaker who discusses the challenges faced by college students including substance abuse, depression, anxiety, family conflict, relationship issues, self-harm behaviors, suicide, and low self-esteem.
On Wednesday, Dr. Joey Greenwood, Director of Recreational Sports and the Wellness Center, along with Randy Canivel, Assistant Didrector of Recreational Sports and the Wellness Center, will present "Beer Belly Blues: the Effects of Alcohol Consumption as it Relates to Health and Wellness in College-Aged Students." The presentation will be held in the Clark Student Center, Cheyenne Room, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Also, there will be a carnival from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunwatcher Plaza featuring games and refreshments.
On Thursday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the CSC Cheyenne Room, the MSU Graduate Counseling and Psychology Departments will present "Do I Drink Too Much? How Much is Too Much?" They will also provide alcohol screenings. At 2:00 p.m. in CSC Shawnee Theater, Susan Bragg, Manager of Victim Services, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, will present "Partying 101: Being Safe and Smart, Right from the Start!" The final presentation, "Alcohol and You" will be made by Kappa Sigma Fraternity in CSC Cheyenne Room from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
The 3-day event is sponsored by the MSU Counseling Center, Student Success Series, Office of Student Development and Orientation, Recreational Sports and Wellness Center, Psychology Graduate Program, Counseling Graduate Program and the Division of Student Affairs.
