A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is a musical inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus (251-183 B.C.); it tells the bawdy story of Pseudolus, the laziest slave in Rome, and his attempts to win his freedom. When his master and mistress leave for the day, he finds out that the master's young son has fallen in love with a courtesan in the house of Lycus, a slave dealer specializing in beautiful women. Pseudolus concocts a deal in which he will be freed if he can procure the girl for the young master. Of course, his plan simply cannot be that simple, and events quickly spiral out of control!
