Exhibit on Printmaking

The extensive collection of work shown here in the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at Midwestern State University galleries reconstruct Richard Ash's life as an artist.  The work, however, does not reveal all that many of us know about this energetic, orderly, opinionated, dedicated, demanding, and perfectionist man, whom I am pleased to call my friend.  Enjoy this beautiful retrospective with the knowledge that Richard Ash may have yet to produce his best work.

For thirty-eight years Midwestern State University has been the beneficiary of having a distinguished artist, master printmaker and superb teacher as a member of its faculty.  Richard Ash's illustrious reputation for directing workshops, mentoring and producing outstanding students/artists is surpassed only by the profoundly beautiful and conceptually challenging works of art he has created throughout his life as a professional artist.

In forty years of producing prints and exhibiting nationally, the viewer sees a rich tapestry of personal images unfold.  Each passage in his artistic evolution is recorded on paper with a passion for communicating with the tools of his trade.  It all culminates as the artist's own diary....a body of work....a life made visible through artistic order.
