Reed to join MSU Athletic Staff as Sports Information Director
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Midwestern State University Athletic Department announced the appointment of Trey Reed as sports information director. MSU Athletic Director Ed Harris made the announcement Monday afternoon.
Reed will be returning home after serving in a similar capacity at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. He earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science degree with an emphasis in mass communications from Midwestern State in 2006.
While at SOSU, Reed was the Southwest Region coordinator for the Daktronics, Inc. Division II Football All-America Team and was the driving force behind a new dot-com website for the athletic department.
"Trey is an outstanding young professional who has both knowledge and experience in the field," said Harris. "His skill in crafting his profession is only excelled by his own love of Midwestern State."
A native Wichitan, Reed looks forward to accepting the call of his alma mater.
"I am excited to come back to home," Reed said. "This is a position that I have always coveted at a school I have always loved."
He worked as a contract sportswriter for the Wichita Falls Times Record News for four years, played host MSU2's Sports Scene, served as sports editor for the university student newspaper, The Wichitan, and was a student assistant in the sports information office while earning his degree from Midwestern.
Prior to attending MSU, Reed spent six years in the armed forces as a soldier in the U.S. Army and attended to Cameron University for a year before returning home to complete his degree at MSU.
"I grew up on MSU athletics," the 33-year-old Reed said. "I remember watching Jeff Ray play point and Greg Giddings performing the æScotland Slam.' This is a special place for me and I am honored with the opportunity to be a part of the great athletic tradition of MSU Athletics."
Reed begins his duties at MSU on June 25.
