LSC honors five MSU student athletic trainers
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University placed five student athletic trainers among the 51 recognized by the Lone Star Conference on Monday as the league announced its annual athletic training student academic award winners for 2006-07.
Ashley Burson, Kendall Goldberg, Travis Gray, Heather Alvarado and Ben Lanz each carried at least a 3.20 grade-point average with a minimum of 24 semester hours over the past scholastic year.
Each academic year, the LSC recognizes student athletic trainers who devote countless hours to assist with the operation of the athletics' department while also finding the time to excel in the classroom. The qualifications mirror those required of student-athletes to gain LSC all-academic recognition.
This year's recipients represent nine of the LSC's 15 member institutions, with East Central recording a league-high 12 honorees. Southwestern Oklahoma State added 11 recipients, while Angelo State had seven and Tarleton State had six. Eastern New Mexico and Texas A&M-Commerce each had four student athletic trainers recognized, while Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas Woman's had one apiece.
