MSU Softball Earns No. 1 Seed

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - - The Midwestern State softball team has been awarded the top spot in the NCAA South Central Regional Softball Tournament, which was announced by the Division II Women's Softball Committee late Sunday night.

The regional tournament, which is a double elimination tournament, features eight teams from three different conferences, the Lone Star Conference, the Heartland Conference, and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and will be held in San Angelo at the Angelo State Softball Complex.

MSU is the number one seed, followed by fellow LSC member Angelo State at the two spot. Seed's three and four were both awarded to members of the Heartland, with St. Mary's (Texas) at three and St. Edward's (Texas) at four. Rounding out the field are Tarleton State at five, RMAC Champion Western New Mexico at six, Northeastern State at seven, and Texas A&M-Kingsville at the eighth and final seed.

The Mustangs (43-14), who are currently ranked No. 13 in the NFCA national poll, won the LSC on Saturday after wins over ASU and Central Oklahoma. They earned their second straight number one seed in the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Midwestern will face TAMUK on Thursday at 3:00 p.m., and will be the second of four games that day.
